Application Process

Important deadline change: All applications are now due by November 3, 2008.

Teachers in Space recently announced the start of its first two Pathfinder competitions. These competitions will select the first two teachers who will take a sub-orbital flight as part of Teachers in Space. These first teachers will be pioneer Pathfinders. They will help us validate the selection process and develop training procedures for the thousands of teachers who will follow.

There are two Pathfinder competitions:

  • STEM Pathfinder
  • General Education Pathfinder

The STEM Pathfinder competition is open to K-12 teachers of science, technology, engineering, and/or math. Applicants are asked to submit a proposal for an experiment that can be performed during a sub-orbital space flight.

The General Education Pathfinder is for K-12 teachers in all subject areas. Applicants are asked to submit a lesson plan based on some aspect of human space flight.
